Narrow Aisle Racking

Increasing Space Utilisation

Narrow aisle pallet racking is the space-saving option if floor space is limited: maximum storage capacity, fast accessibility to every pallet and quick order-picking straight from the racking. Aisle pallet racking system have a width of around 1.6 metres, with each pallet being individually supported and independently reachable. Although a specialist narrow aisle truck must be used in this system, this allows for a dramatic increase in space utilisation.

The narrow aisle system allows you to benefit from:

  1. All Pallets Accessible
With all pallets accessible there are minimum loading complications, therefore the system maximises speed, thus improving productivity.
  2. 45% Space Utilisation
Narrow Aisle racking can free up to 45% of the floor space given to aisles in a wide aisle scheme. Through maximising space utilisation you can store more pallets in the limited space of your warehouse.
  3. Narrow Aisle Forklift Trucks
These specialist machines lift higher and work faster than a general-purpose truck. Therefore through a narrow aisle system not only is space utilisation improved through higher reach but also faster order picking, therefore increasing productivity.
  4. Added value
The additional cost of specialist forklift truck offset by the added value of improved space utilisation.

Paired with an Aisle-Master very narrow aisle forklift, space can be utilised even further, helping you make the most out of your fixed assets.

Push Back Racking

Last-in, first-out high-density storage racks

Push back racking merges the advantages of drive-in racking with pallet live storage helping you make the best use of limited capacity. Through creating a maximum of a four pallet deep rack, you can optimise the wall space of your warehouse. This highly cost-effective system is an alternative to drive-in rack designs and has the additional benefit that all locations can be loaded or emptied without moving adjacent pallets.

How push back works:

Pallets are placed by the forklift on rolling carts which manoeuvre on slightly inclined rails. Each time a pallet is added to the rack it pushes the pallet entered before it further back. When removing the last pallet entered will be the first out. Afterwards, the innovative system uses gravity to move the remaining pallets forward using the roller carts.

Ideally suited to order picking operations, key benefits include:

  1. Moves Easily
The push back frames are designed with live storages techniques, making the pallets when stored mobile, thus meaning that current storage can be pushed further towards the wall when needed. Removing a pallet is even easier, just pick the nearest pallet from the wall and let gravity do the rest.
  2. 85% Space Utilisation
The innovative push back frames allow up to four rows of pallets to be stored next to a wall due to the rear rack beam being slightly higher than front subframe.  This allows you to minimise aisles and creates a further 85% space utilisation.
  3. Standard Fork Lift Trucks
The push back racking system requires no specialist forklift, instead relies on the mobility created by the live racking system. Due to pallets manoeuvring through a series of separate subframes there is no need for a deep reach truck.
  4. Pallet Selectivity Reduced
  5. High Throughput Speeds

Double-deep Racking

Increase storage density by storing two pallet loads at each aisle lane.

A variant on standard adjustable beam racking, double deep as the name implies allows pallets to be stored two deep but still accessible from the same aisle. This can be either double deep against a wall, or four pallets deep between aisles. Double deep racking simply has one row of standard pallet racking behind another. Through doubling the number of pallets on each aisle that wide aisle racking, double deep creates a larger storage density.

Although the speed of access to all pallet positions is restricted, with an efficient stock rotation system this can easily be compensated for to take advantage of the increased storage density.

Double deep racking is ideal when multiple pallet quantities of each product are stored and its benefits include:

  1. 60% Space Utilisation
Double deep pallet racking can free up to 60% of the floor space given to aisles in a wide aisle scheme. Through maximising space utilisation you can store more pallets in the limited space of your warehouse.
  2. Ideal For High Turnover
Perfect for goods with high turnover, where restricted access is not a problem
  3. Lower Capital Investment
Relatively low cost when compared to scissor and pantograph masts.

Drive-in Racking

Drive-in pallet rack requires fewer aisles, allowing you to store up to 85% more pallets

If making the most of storage capacity is a major requirement of your warehouse, drive-in pallet racking allows you to optimise the space of your warehouse. Through eliminating aisles and lanes, drive-in racking utilises space at the price of selectivity. This is ideal for batch despatches as the first pallet into the lane will be the last pallet out. Each pallet is supported to ensure damage from crushing is eliminated.

Last in, first-out arrangement

Drive-In racks allow a lift truck to enter from one side to load or unload. This is possible because the pallets are loaded onto a manoeuvrable rail, which allows the last pallet loaded to be slid backwards with the induction of a new pallet. However when a new pallet is loaded you lose accessibility to the previous pallet, creating the last-in, first-out arrangement.

Key Features:

  1. 85% Space Utilisation
Narrow Aisle racking can free up to 85% of the floor space given to aisles in a wide aisle scheme. Through maximising space utilisation you can store more pallets in the limited space of your warehouse.
  2. Ideal for cold store conditions
For perishable goods that must be kept frozen or refrigerated, the space utilisation of drive-in racking significantly reduces overheads.
  3. Option to increase the speed of operation
The speed of operation can be increased further, through using floor-mounted guide rails which assist the position of the trucks. This also helps reduce accidental damage to the goods and rack.
  4. Ideal for bulk goods of the same type

Cantilever Racking

Ideal for long or awkward loads

Created from two columns of vertical beams and two or more horizontal beams cantilever racking is ideal for storing long items such as steel sections, wood and pipes. Furthermore, access to every pallet at any time makes cantilever racking suitable for slow, medium or fast rotation. It is strong, cost-effective and safe, ensuring even the heaviest of products is no issue.

Key Benefits:

  1. Safe And Organised Storage:
Cantilever racking maximises the usage of floor space and utilises vertical space. Each rack is designed to meet your specific needs based upon type, size and weight of the product. This results in a safe, neat and organised storage of a range of products.
  2. Robust And Durable:
Designed to handle demanding environments, knocks and bangs. State of the art computer technology is used in the design process to ensure not only safety but improving the life of your racking.
  3. High Selectivity
With all products on show, cantilever allows easy picking ensuring that no time is wasted selecting the right product. Additionally, there are fewer picking errors than bulk stacking methods.
  4. Reduced Wasted Space
Through using the vertical height of the building cantilever minimise space wasted, guaranteeing you are getting the most out of your warehouse.

Mezzanine Floors

Mezzanine stores are a cost-effective means of creating more space in your premises when compared to extending a building or buying new premises. By creating the space internally, mezzanine floors appear to provide something for nothing in terms of premise area. This is achieved through taking advantage of disused vertical space, helping you make the most of your premises.

They can be used to store goods, create additional working areas or production areas and they can integrate many additional features such as parcel chutes.
